Everything Ships With the App

The complete high country basemap is bundled inside the app itself. Install it at home, and the map is simply there — with airplane mode on, in a canyon, or miles past the last bar of signal. There is no "download your region first" step to forget.

Built for Where There Is No Signal

Most of Yosemite's high country has no cell coverage at all, so the app is designed offline-first rather than treating offline as a special mode. The map, hike catalog, trail routing, placemarks, and GPS tracking all run entirely on your phone.

What Works Offline

• The full topographic basemap, at every zoom level
• The curated hike catalog with stats and elevation profiles
• Point-to-point trail routing, computed on-device
• Placemarks — creating, naming, and browsing them
• GPS tracking and your saved tracks

The One Optional Download

An optional high-detail map pack is available as a one-time download that adds extra map detail. It's a nice-to-have, not a requirement — the bundled basemap covers the whole area on its own. iCloud placemark sync also waits patiently until you're back in coverage.
